Community Impact

Paul Gregory Media
was built with
empathy at its core.

Since the beginning, we’ve supported nonprofit and purpose-driven organizations, proudly donating a minimum of 15% of our time & experience through pro-bono and in-kind services to support missions we admire and causes we care about.

While we’ve championed causes like defeating homelessness, addressing mental health, providing affordable housing, serving people with special needs, and advocating for seniors, there’s so much more we can and should do. We need to learn more about our impact as a company on our communities. And we need to do more to ensure a better future for everyone.

We need to learn more about our impact as a company on our communities. And we need to do more to ensure a better future for everyone.

Our long-term ambition is to have a positive impact on our environment, our community, our employees, and the wider world. We also want to invite fellow businesses to follow suit and join us in using business as a force for good.

As part of that journey, we have set many specific goals to help meet our own mission. All of these goals fall into one of the three areas:

Certified B-corporation
Strong community involvement

Consistent environmental impact

We are a certified
B-Corporation

That means that we’re meeting high standards for sustainability, social responsibility, and holding ourselves accountable. Unlike traditional corporations, B-Corps are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders: customers, workers, communities, and the environment.

Currently, there are only 54 Certified B-Corporations™ in the state of Illinois, and only 4 (including us) in DuPage County. Paul Gregory Media is the only Certified B-Corporation™ marketing agency in DuPage County.

Why did we decide to become B-Corp certified? To start,

1. B-Corp Certification is a high standard that keeps us accountable to our stated values as a company. It’s easy to say we care about important issues, but certification forces us to measure the ongoing impact.

2. We want our clients to know who they’re doing business with. We often select clients and partners based on a sense of shared values, so it’s important for people to know what we stand for.

3. We’d like to see more businesses in the world that balance people and planet over profit. In our experience, the best way to catalyze that sort of change is to model it for others.

Simply put, because we care about the big picture. Practices that are good for the world, are good for us. Being a B-Corp is a symbol to us, our clients, and our community that it takes a human-centric company to run a human-centric process.

Just showing up is not enough. We need to be there for our communities today and every day.

In November 2020, we made the first steps by completing an in-depth Impact Assessment covering five key areas:

Governance
Customers
Workers
Environment
Community

Anyone can read our assessment report which offers more transparency into how we are running our business. Based on this, we have been given an overall score based on a range of things, from our high-level vision, mission, and business ambitions to employee diversity, energy use, and the way we clean our office.

We care about creating a positive impact on our community

Our community includes our local community, our clients, their local communities, and our internal team. It’s our goal to have a positive impact on anybody that comes into contact with PGM.

We are currently…

  • Hosting free webinars to educate our community on best digital marketing practices. Our first webinar launched in February of 2023, and we have free monthly webinars scheduled for the rest of the year. To learn more, or to register for as many as you’d like, visit our webinars page.
  • Providing Equal Access through ADA compliance. We believe in the importance of equal access to websites, and are making it our mission to make every site we’re involved with 100% inclusive and accessible.
  • Volunteering in our community and donating our money, time, and other valuable resources whenever possible. We continue to donate thousands of dollars in cash to local nonprofit organizations every year. In 2020, we began our first round of digital marketing grants for local nonprofits, and continue issuing these grants every year. Since 2022, we’ve donated 1% of gross revenue to local charitable 501(c)(3) organizations each year.
  • Creating free, educational resources and articles to provide digital marketing guidance to the public. We are excited to share our knowledge of the digital marketing landscape, and have shared our best tips and tricks in blogs, videos, and our social posts. We plan to share additional free resources to our future webinar participants (in which the webinar is also a free education resource).
  • Encouraging our internal team to reach their professional and personal goals by providing competitive benefits. These include competitive pay, unlimited PTO, no-work Fridays, Time off for Volunteering, and many company outings and activities. We monitor our eNPS scores and office pulse weekly which informs areas of continued opportunities.

We look forward to…

  • Working with more partners who have similar missions and do business with them. We have already made great working relationships with these organizations, and are excited to grow our network.
  • Connecting our communities. We are in the works of scheduling our first networking event, which will connect clients, colleagues, and friends, so that we may all build our networks to further our individual missions.

We’ll continue to use our platform to empower people and give a voice to those who are trying to raise awareness and drive change within their communities. For those organizations that haven’t found themselves on anyone’s radar, they’re now on our radar.

We actively
pursue sustainable business opportunities

As a certified b-corp, we understand the importance of integrating sustainability practices into our daily digital workflows. Here’s what we’ve done, or are actively doing, so far:

Become carbon neutral. Our goal is to reduce our emmissions wherever possible to get as clost to carbon-neutral as possible. Where we fall short, we’ve partnered with Aclymate in our ongoing environmental efforts to offset the rest. We review our emissions monthly and purchase offsets to make up the difference. Check out our Carbon Emission Trend.

Choose the right partners. We have found, and will continue to find, more environmentally-sustainable partners so that we can build a community that is collectively more eco-conscious, environmentally responsible, and cognizant of the world around us. For example, we partner with IONOS – our digital partner for cloud solutions and web hosting – by particpating in an environmental protection project. For every successful referral, IONOS will plant a tree as part of the Tree-Nation reforestation project.

Support diverse communities.  We embrace diversity, equity and inclusion by supporting the LGBTQ+ and ethnically diverse communities.

Is there more on the way? Yes, and finding and executing new sustainability ideas will take consistent, focused, hard work — and that’s okay. We are eager to learn more about how to establish additional sustainable practices in our workday, so that our environment may thrive as much as we want our businesses to!

What is our goal in regards to community impact?

Our goal is to infuse business activities with a human, meaning-filled foundation. Just showing up is not enough. We need to be there for our communities today and every day. Our Certified B Corporation status will serve as an ever-present reminder of how we build brands at the intersection of humanity and digital marketing, as well as inspire our mission to positively impact our community and environment everyday.

If partnering with a team that cares about the world is of value to you, reach out to us at [email protected]. We would love the opportunity to partner with you and fulfill your digital marketing goals!

“Reevaluating our business processes has been extremely valuable. It’s forced us to reflect on where we are in terms of social and environmental impact, and ask ourselves: ‘How can we do better?’

And yes, we have a long way to go, but as we know from our creative community, starting is often the hardest part.

I’m proud of the work we’re doing and eager to keep moving forward. I also want to thank all of the people that contributed to our achievements this far. We couldn’t do it without you, and we hope we make you proud.” – Paul Feith, PGM President
